Strength & Conditioning

Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

A CSCS is a professional who applies scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. No matter where your are in your athletic journey, this certification allows me to better adapt training for the physical needs of my clients.

Women in particular greatly benefit from strength training. Women are more prone to osteoporosis than men. Building up bone density through strength training is essential, particularly in our 20s and 30s. It's also important that we not only build muscle mass, but maintain it as we age. It really is a "use it or lose it" situation. We strength train for longevity, to not just keep up with our children and grandchildren, but enjoy playing with them for years. 

In my personal experience, many women never tap in to their true strength because they avoid barbell and heavy dumbbell work in favor of cardio and group fitness. I can understand why many women avoid the weight room, it's intimidating, it's crowded, it's loud, maybe you're the only woman in room full of men. Hiring a coach to teach you how to utilize free weights is the easiest way to build, not only your strength, but your confidence.

Pre and Postnatal Fitness

Certified Pre and Postnatal Coach (CPPC)

I don't know a greater physical feat than pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum. Every phase from trying to conceive to postpartum are all physically and emotionally demanding. According to research provided by Girls Gone Strong, 85% of women will have a baby in their life. It's important that women work with someone who understands the toll child bearing has on the body and adapting strength training for that demand.

The pregnant body can do so much and if you have more than one child you're already lifting some pretty heavy stuff. Let's stop underestimating the pregnant body and start making it even stronger. Working with a CPPC can help you have a safe, strong, and healthy perinatal experience.  

Whether you have a vaginal or cesarian birth postpartum is a crucial time for recovery that should extend far beyond that six week check up. Unfortunately, the postpartum mother often doesn't receive the care and attention she deserves and needs. Knowing there were so many women in need of this care I pursued this certification and Doula training. I want to support and strengthen not only your body, but your self-confidence in our training sessions together so you can be one badass mother!
